Refund policy

At Tessera Contemporary, every work is presented only after independent verification of provenance, condition, and market positioning. Because of the unique, one-of-a-kind, or limited-edition nature of the works we offer, our return and refund policy reflects standard practice within the fine art industry.

Final Sale Policy

All sales are final. Given the unique nature of the artworks we offer—many of which are one-of-a-kind, limited edition, or acquired through private negotiation—we do not accept returns or offer refunds based on change of mind, buyer's remorse, or subsequent shifts in personal taste or market conditions.

We strongly encourage collectors to review all available documentation, images, and condition reports, and to reach out to our advisory team with any questions, prior to completing a purchase.

Exceptions — When a Return or Refund Applies

Notwithstanding our final sale policy, we will accept a return and issue a full refund in the following circumstances:

  • Authenticity dispute — if a work is conclusively demonstrated, through independent expert assessment, not to be authentic as represented at the time of sale.
  • Material misdescription — if the work received differs materially from its documented description (including medium, dimensions, edition number, or provenance) in a manner not disclosed prior to purchase.
  • Transit damage — if the work arrives with damage sustained during shipping. Claims must be submitted within 48 hours of delivery, accompanied by photographic evidence and the original packaging.

To initiate a claim under any of the above, please contact our team at info@tesseracontemporary.com within the applicable timeframe. Claims submitted outside these windows, or without sufficient supporting documentation, may not be eligible for resolution under this policy.

Private Sale & Custom Agreements

Works acquired through private negotiation, reservation, or custom payment terms may be subject to separate written agreements. Where a signed agreement exists, its terms take precedence over this general policy.

Process

Approved returns will be processed only upon receipt of the work in its original condition, with all accompanying documentation and certificates of authenticity. Refunds are issued to the original method of payment. Shipping costs associated with an approved return are addressed on a case-by-case basis depending on the nature of the claim.

Questions Before You Buy

Because we are unable to offer discretionary returns, our advisory team is available to answer questions, provide additional documentation, or arrange further condition inspection prior to purchase. We encourage all collectors—particularly those acquiring internationally or for the first time—to take advantage of this before completing a transaction.

This policy is provided for general informational purposes and does not constitute legal advice. Collectors with questions regarding their rights under applicable consumer protection law are encouraged to seek independent legal counsel, particularly for cross-border transactions where local regulations may impose additional requirements.
