Biography

Donald Judd was an American artist, writer, and designer whose objects transformed the language of sculpture through clarity, serial form, industrial materials, and real space. Rejecting illusion and traditional composition, he developed works in metal, Plexiglas, plywood, and concrete that insist on direct physical experience. His critical writing also helped define the terms of postwar art, while his work in Marfa extended questions of art, architecture, and permanent installation. For collectors, Judd's practice offers a major Minimalist position, where proportion, material, color, and site are held with exceptional precision and intellectual discipline.
