Gerhard Richter

A rotating selection of available works, chosen for their momentum in today's market.

Biography

Gerhard Richter (b. 1932, Dresden) is a German artist whose practice has reshaped postwar painting through a sustained dialogue between photography, abstraction, and historical memory. After training in Dresden and later at the Kunstakademie Duesseldorf, Richter developed blurred photo-based paintings, color charts, gray monochromes, landscapes, portraits, glass works, and layered abstractions that question how images acquire authority. His work moves between detachment and emotional charge, engaging private memory, public history, and the limits of representation. Held in major museum collections and widely exhibited internationally, Richter remains a defining figure for collectors considering the breadth and rigor of contemporary painting.
